Living Generously, Sharing Faithfully

Day 1 - Alter the Altar

Invite your family, your brother or sister in Christ, or a small group of friends to join in you "altering your altar" for the next 30 days!

“Then Elijah said to all the people, ‘Come here to me.’ They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down. Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, ‘Your name shall be Israel.’ With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord,…” 1 Kings 18:30-32

Today we begin thirty days of prayer for restoring family worship in the Washington Conference. Thank you so much for taking this inspiring journey with us!

As Elijah repaired the altar of the Lord, preparing the way for a spiritual revival and reformation in Israel, we are responding to the call to repair the home altar of family worship in preparation for another move of God.

For this first day allow us to paint the big picture as we wait upon the Lord for His help and favor. Consider the condition of your home altar and discuss when you and your family or friends come together for worship.

Please pray...

1 - That this project will genuinely reform and transform individuals, families, churches and communities.

2 - That our children and grandchildren (grown or at home) will experience God in a totally new way.

3 - That this month’s focus on family worship will help grow deep believers resulting in wholehearted devotion to the Lord; that this simple act of worship will become part of the rhythm of every part of our lives

4 - That at this year’s Annual Council meetings (Oct. 11–17) Jesus will be the center of every discussion and every decision. Pray that each world church leader will be inspired by God’s Spirit, God’s Word, God’s wisdom, God’s love, God’s power and God’s solutions.

Remember that tomorrow, October 13, is a day of prayer and fasting in the NPUC for the Annual Council meetings underway now

Lord, let it be known today that you are God in Washington Conference and that we, your servants, are restoring the altar of worship in our homes to honor you and to save our children. Help us to know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning our hearts back again. Amen.

Grace and peace.
